Second, that does sound odd, but I seem to recall there being a reason for it. I believe it's because turning off the tracing leaves some data out of the trace file. That data is written when the cursor is closed, at the close of the session.
I will add a note for development (me!) to look into it.
The great thing about open source software is that you can make that change yourself, to fit your needs.
The administrator has disabled public write access.
