TOPIC: ILO Turning off Trace

ILO Turning off Trace 1 year 9 months ago #376

Hi,

I am currently evaluating ILO and have found that it is turning off SQL trace.

I am using DBMS_MONITOR to enable tracing and it appears that the end_task procedure in the ILO_TASK package is always calling ilo_sysutil.turn_trace_off when the stack is empty.

The calls to ilo_sysutil.turn_trace_on are guarded by checking the g_trace global variable however the call to ilo_sysutil.turn_trace_off isn't.

Can this be changed please?

Thanks

Tony

Tony,

First, thanks for your feedback.

Second, that does sound odd, but I seem to recall there being a reason for it. I believe it's because turning off the tracing leaves some data out of the trace file. That data is written when the cursor is closed, at the close of the session.

I will add a note for development (me!) to look into it.

The great thing about open source software is that you can make that change yourself, to fit your needs.

Ron,

Thanks for your reply. I have changed my copy of the package to check g_trace when calling turn_trace_off.

I know I can change the code but was unsure how that affects the LGPL license.

Tony,

You are well within the terms of the license to make this change.
