The Method R SLA Manager automatically records response times of business tasks and allows you to answer questions like, “What percentage of ‘Book Order’ button clicks executed over the past month have returned in 2 seconds or less?” Or, “Given current trends, when will our 99th percentile response time of ‘Book Order’ exceed 2 seconds?”

You have performance SLAs you strive to meet. Method R’s SLA Manager will help you meet those goals through:

  • Reporting: SLA Manager reports show response times for database tasks, how many times those tasks run, details for each run, and much more.
  • Trending: SLA Manager lets you establish trending groups, then track response times for those groups and establish trends to show when response time objectives will be broken, and how many days until specific tasks break those objectives.

SLA Manager is multi-system capable, meaning you can track performance and SLA compliance for multiple database instances. For example, you can track the performance of a given task on your production system versus the performance of the same task on your development system.

Using SLA Manager, you can see developing performance issues before they become problems. SLA Manager helps you track and trend the response times of your company’s most important business tasks, leading to better decisions for your business.

How It Works

SLA Manager gathers response time statistics on Oracle tasks that you designate, on a schedule of your choosing, for the duration that you select, using parameters that you specify. SLA Manager has an application programming interface (API) that allows you to gather response time statistics that are generated in one of three ways:

  • Through code instrumented with the Instrumentation Library for Oracle (ILO).
  • Through the SLA Manager Automatic Data Collectors, which allow you to gather response time data from Apache applications or Oracle Forms 6.0 applications that are not instrumented with ILO.
  • Through Oracle E-Business Concurrent Manager tasks that you select.

In addition, you can use the API to directly indicate the kind of events you want to measure for SLA Manager.

SLA Manager then assembles response time statistics into a series of linked reports and charts that you view and manipulate to analyze which tasks are performing well, which are performing poorly, and which are in danger of becoming poor performers.

Using the reports, you can drill down to finer detail, forecast performance in light of changes, and view graphs that illustrate trends, patterns, and potential pitfalls.
